Deepak Chopra's CROSSING OVER

This is very much in line with Advaitism. Resonates very well with the concept of death that Advaitism hints to.
Worth reading I guess, I have not read it yet.

"Crossing Over"
How the afterlife dawns

1. The physical body stops functining. The dying person may not be aware of this but evetuanlly knows that is has occured.

2. The physical world vanishes. This can happen by degress, there can be a sense of floating upward or of looking down on familiar places as they recede.

3. THe dying person feels lighter, suddenly freed of limitations.

4. The mind and sometimes the senes continue to operate. Gradually, however, what is perceived becomes nonphysical.

5. A presence grows that is felt to be divine. This presence can be clothed in a light or in the body of angels or gods. It can communicate to the dying person.

6. Personality and Memory begin to fade, but the sense of "I" remains.

7. This "I" has a overwhelming sense of moving on to another phase of existence.

Welcome to the spirituality blog

This blog is an offshoot of a website that I had conceived as a result of the spiritual grace and resultant inspiration during Shivaratri Y2K (http://www.jyotirlinga.com) on the joy of Shiva Bhakti and my quest for spiritual progress. Not finding the time (yep, bad excuse!), this blog suits me fine in quickly adding content... my spiritual forays and thoughts - helps log them too. My spiritual journey started with Hinduism and it's simple stories/ teachings as far back as when I was a 2nd grader, with Lord Shiva and has now found convergence with Advaitism / Duality. The Advaitism gurus like Bhagwan Ramana Maharishi, Nisargadatta Maharaj; they have provided that spiritual boost of energy in many lagging moments and have tremendously influenced me ... little baby steps at a time... that will hopefully all lead upto a final crescendo. The merits of satsangh are many!
