Science and Religion - fusion

We are the new generation and we have been given this prerogative to interpret age old Hindu traditions and scriptures into a contemporary perspective that completely analyzes them to the core and adding lot of value, to be preserved forever for mankind as a time capsule on the internet freeway.

Case in example is the wonderful scientific interpretation of the Gayatri Mantra by Shyam Sundar. Such a gem.

As man progresses, the science and spirituality will just converge into something of mass appeal and will ultimately lead to the Nostradamusque peace of a thousand years.

*Om bhur bhuvah swah*

*Tat savitur varenyam*

*Bhargo devasya dheemahi*

*Dhiyo yo nah prachodayat*

Gayatri mantra has been bestowed the greatest importance in Vedic dharma. This mantra has also been termed as Savitri and Ved-Mata, the mother of the Vedas. The literal meaning of the mantra is:

O God! You are Omnipresent, Omnipotent and Almighty. You are all Light.

You are all Knowledge and Bliss. You are Destroyer of fear, You are Creator of this Universe, You are the Greatest of all. We bow and meditate uponyYour light. You guide our intellect in the right direction.

The mantra, however, has a great scientific importance too, which somehow got lost in the literary tradition. The modern astrophysics and astronomy tell us that our Galaxy called MilkyWay or Akash-Ganga contains approximately 100,000 million of stars. Each star is like our sun having its own planet system. We know that the moon moves round the earth and the earth moves round the sun along with the moon. All planets move around the sun.

Welcome to the spirituality blog

This blog is an offshoot of a website that I had conceived as a result of the spiritual grace and resultant inspiration during Shivaratri Y2K (http://www.jyotirlinga.com) on the joy of Shiva Bhakti and my quest for spiritual progress. Not finding the time (yep, bad excuse!), this blog suits me fine in quickly adding content... my spiritual forays and thoughts - helps log them too. My spiritual journey started with Hinduism and it's simple stories/ teachings as far back as when I was a 2nd grader, with Lord Shiva and has now found convergence with Advaitism / Duality. The Advaitism gurus like Bhagwan Ramana Maharishi, Nisargadatta Maharaj; they have provided that spiritual boost of energy in many lagging moments and have tremendously influenced me ... little baby steps at a time... that will hopefully all lead upto a final crescendo. The merits of satsangh are many!

Your comments (encouragement/ otherwise) are certainly welcome. Thanks for visiting. If you like it, Subscribe to my blog (click here):Posts (Atom).
