Char Dham Video
Charon Dham darshan - in 10 minutes flat.
I must say, having just done the Himalayas Char Dham, I was burnt out mentally and physically going through the process. I am trying to figure out the value of this yatra, when immense benefit can be derived by just internalizing and knowing the atman within the self. I think this is of immense value if we can focus within with bhakti during this yatra, otherwise this may not get us much benefits. Or maybe I am missing something and the spiritual evolution accelerates just by completing this yatra. I am yet to notice any perceptible change.
According to the Hindu scriptures, the Char Dham (meaning "four sacred spots" comprising of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath) yatra is the most sacred of all the pilgrimages. Undertaking a journey to Char Dham in Garhwal (Uttarakhand) will not just wash away one's sins but ensure release from the cycle of birth and death. The honour conferred on these places is not surprising. The Char Dham Yatra shall be visited from Left to Right – beginning from Yamunotri, going to Gangotri, Kedarnath and culminating the journey at Badrinath. This route follows the Hindu tradition of parikrama or clockwise circumambulation.
Puri, Rameshwaram, Dwarka, and Badrinath—grouped together by the great 8th century reformer and philosopher Shankaracharya (Adi Sankara), into the archetypal All-India pilgrimage circuit to the four cardinal points of the subcontinent.
Welcome to the spirituality blog
This blog is an offshoot of a website that I had conceived as a result of the spiritual grace and resultant inspiration during Shivaratri Y2K (http://www.jyotirlinga.com) on the joy of Shiva Bhakti and my quest for spiritual progress. Not finding the time (yep, bad excuse!), this blog suits me fine in quickly adding content... my spiritual forays and thoughts - helps log them too. My spiritual journey started with Hinduism and it's simple stories/ teachings as far back as when I was a 2nd grader, with Lord Shiva and has now found convergence with Advaitism / Duality. The Advaitism gurus like Bhagwan Ramana Maharishi, Nisargadatta Maharaj; they have provided that spiritual boost of energy in many lagging moments and have tremendously influenced me ... little baby steps at a time... that will hopefully all lead upto a final crescendo. The merits of satsangh are many!
