Avatar - the world of duality

What a movie!
Had me spell bound for hours, transposing myself between the two worlds of Jake Sully.
There is no red pill or blue pill...the parallels with MATRIX is obvious.

It all plays into the age old Hindu philosophy - the world is an illusion or is the mind an illusion - or is the reality something else? Jake Sully enters the world of Na'vi - and that is where, in the illusory state, the real character of Jake emerges.
The grand finale - is that what nirvana is all about?
The inherent nature of all of man is a struggle with duality....that is totally religion agnostic.
We all have a power struggle going on inside us - the domination is by the illusory world, and the scale seems to slide a tad to the left or the right - depended on how evolved we all are.
Once the domination of the reality emerges - that is the state of moksha???
This movie is a paradigm shift in movie making - but the underlying concept of this movie is the real beauty.
This movie will be talked about for decades!

**** MOVIE SPOILER ALERT BELOW**************

Jake Sully is a renegade Marine infantryman who defects to the Na'vi race. He is also one of the 20 known avatars and the sixth Toruk Makto. Jake was part of the Avatar Program, in which humans remotely control Human/Na'vi hybrids to safely navigate the planet. Jake was originally assigned to gather intel that would help Colonel Quaritch discover the Na'vi weaknesses so he could force them to leave Hometree or destroy it if necessary. This being done so due to the earth beneath Hometree having a significant deposit of Unobtanium; the entire reason for RDA's interest in Pandora. Jake learns the ways of the Na'vi hunters from Neytiri and is eventually accepted into the Omaticaya clan. Soon after he and Neytiri fall in love. Shortly after this the RDA stages it's attack on Hometree, for which Jake seeks revenge. When everything seems lost to the Na'vi, Jake is able to attain Tsahaylu with a Great Leonopteryx, becoming the sixth Toruk Makto. He plays a key role in the final war, as he leads the Na'vi against the RDA offensive. The Na'vi then perform a ceremony in which they ask Eywa to place Jake's mind into his Avatar body permanently.

Welcome to the spirituality blog

This blog is an offshoot of a website that I had conceived as a result of the spiritual grace and resultant inspiration during Shivaratri Y2K (http://www.jyotirlinga.com) on the joy of Shiva Bhakti and my quest for spiritual progress. Not finding the time (yep, bad excuse!), this blog suits me fine in quickly adding content... my spiritual forays and thoughts - helps log them too. My spiritual journey started with Hinduism and it's simple stories/ teachings as far back as when I was a 2nd grader, with Lord Shiva and has now found convergence with Advaitism / Duality. The Advaitism gurus like Bhagwan Ramana Maharishi, Nisargadatta Maharaj; they have provided that spiritual boost of energy in many lagging moments and have tremendously influenced me ... little baby steps at a time... that will hopefully all lead upto a final crescendo. The merits of satsangh are many!
