Lord Shiva Miracle

The Director General of Police, Mr R.R. Girish Kumar, on Sunday expressed awe over the mysterious ways of Lord Shiva.

The DGP, while worshipping at the famous temple of Lord Shiva at Srikalahasti, showed a photograph to the temple authorities and priests, which he had taken while performing Chandiyagam in Srikalahasti in 2008, when he was the additional DGP. The photograph showed a picture of the yagna fire and the flames formed the image of Lord Shiva dancing with a trishul and the Ganga on his head.

The DGP said he was stunned when he saw the photograph he had taken. “I thought I would show it to the temple authorities when I visit Srikalahasti again. It was due to the grace of Lord Shiva that I became the DGP. He is all pervading and his mysterious ways are colossal,” said the police officer.

News of the mysterious photograph soon spread and several devotees tried in vain to get a look at it. The DGP was said to have asked the temple authorities to enlarge the photograph and put it up at the entrance of the main temple.

  2. A prominent Vedic astrologer in India, K.N. Rao, was glancing over a friend's horoscope when he noticed that the man was about to enter an extremely dangerous planetary cycle. Death was imminent. The astrologer didn't mention what he'd seen, but strongly advised his friend to chant the Maha Mrityunjaya mantra faithfully every day. His friend wasn't an idiot. Knowing that an expert Vedic astrologer wouldn't recommend this particular mantra unless there was a darn good reason, he immediately began to chant it.

The Maha Mrityunjaya mantra is the great Vedic mantra for staving off death. Translated into English, it goes something like, "I honor the All-Seeing One, Whose grace is all-pervading like the fragrance of a flower. May He release me from the grip of death as easily as a ripe fruit is released from a vine!"

A few weeks later this gentleman was conducting an inspection in a warehouse. A girder suddenly gave way and several tons of cement bags came tumbling down over his head!

Workers rushed to drag the heavy bags off him. But they were certain he'd been killed. If he hadn't died instantly from a blow to the head or been crushed, he should have suffocated in the time it took them to free him. It turned out that although Rao's friend had been knocked unconscious, once he came to he was no worse for the wear. He had a hairline fracture to a leg bone but was otherwise OK.

Welcome to the spirituality blog

This blog is an offshoot of a website that I had conceived as a result of the spiritual grace and resultant inspiration during Shivaratri Y2K (http://www.jyotirlinga.com) on the joy of Shiva Bhakti and my quest for spiritual progress. Not finding the time (yep, bad excuse!), this blog suits me fine in quickly adding content... my spiritual forays and thoughts - helps log them too. My spiritual journey started with Hinduism and it's simple stories/ teachings as far back as when I was a 2nd grader, with Lord Shiva and has now found convergence with Advaitism / Duality. The Advaitism gurus like Bhagwan Ramana Maharishi, Nisargadatta Maharaj; they have provided that spiritual boost of energy in many lagging moments and have tremendously influenced me ... little baby steps at a time... that will hopefully all lead upto a final crescendo. The merits of satsangh are many!
