Soundarya Lahiri - Amazing rendition by Unnikrishnan Kb >

Sloka from Soundarya Lahari - Dedication to my Guru | Upload Music

Hi all, I always wanted to sing something for my Guru, C Narayanan Namboothiri. He was a turning point in my life. He redefined me as a person and singer. I did my Carnatic lessons from him for around 8 years. Was almost like a gurukula system. I cherish everything what I have with him.

Legend : Soundarya Lahari meaning waves of beauty consists of two parts viz. Ananda Lahari meaning waves of happiness (first 41 stanzas) and Soundarya Lahari (the next 59 stanzas). It is believed that Lord Ganesha himself has etched the Ananda Lahari on Mount Meru (Some people believe that Sage Pushpa Dhantha did the etching). It was read from there by Sage Goudapada who taught it to Adi Sankara. Adi Sankara himself added the rest of the 59 stanzas and completed it.

Sloka:
Shivah shakthya yukto yadi bhavati shaktah prabhavitum;
Na chedevam devo na khalu kusalah spanditumapi;
Atas tvam aradhyam Hari-Hara-Virinchadibhir api;
Pranantum stotum vaa katham akrta-punyah prabhavati;

Meaning :
Lord Shiva, only becomes able.
To do creation in this world along with Shakthi
Without her, Even an inch he cannot move,
And so how can, one who does not do good deeds,
Or one who does not sing your praise,
Become adequate to worship you
Oh , goddess mine, Who is worshiped by the trinity.

My guru gave me this tune. Thank you Sir for everything.

    Why are you so curious to say Siva only depends on Shakthi..? If you are not so, you must also justify the reverse "Shakthi also depends on Siva".. Don't hurt Shiva bhakthas (especially like me).. If this question seems immature, please pardon me.. and provide the right understanding.. Thanks..

  2. Bhagwan,
    I am on a path of trueness and positiveness.
    I ask forgiveness for the un needed and wrong i have done.
    Bestow me with courage and more strength to walk briskly on the path of achieving everything positively

Welcome to the spirituality blog

This blog is an offshoot of a website that I had conceived as a result of the spiritual grace and resultant inspiration during Shivaratri Y2K (http://www.jyotirlinga.com) on the joy of Shiva Bhakti and my quest for spiritual progress. Not finding the time (yep, bad excuse!), this blog suits me fine in quickly adding content... my spiritual forays and thoughts - helps log them too. My spiritual journey started with Hinduism and it's simple stories/ teachings as far back as when I was a 2nd grader, with Lord Shiva and has now found convergence with Advaitism / Duality. The Advaitism gurus like Bhagwan Ramana Maharishi, Nisargadatta Maharaj; they have provided that spiritual boost of energy in many lagging moments and have tremendously influenced me ... little baby steps at a time... that will hopefully all lead upto a final crescendo. The merits of satsangh are many!
